In today’s fast-paced world, nothing is more important than safety. That’s why it’s important to continuously remind riders of the powerful features designed to enhance their safety, such as the SOS button available on the Bolt app. This simple yet effective tool can make a big difference in ensuring a safe and comfortable ride.

Bolt continues to show commitment to providing safe and reliable transport, and the in-app SOS button is an essential part of this commitment. Available within the Bolt app, this feature allows riders to quickly call for help if they ever feel unsafe or encounter an emergency during their trip.

How to access the SOS button

Scroll down on the home screen and press and hold the SOS button for 3 seconds.

Select the ‘request’ button to confirm your emergency.

Bolt will be automatically notified of the distress signal.

The SOS button can be used for any life-threatening incidents, including medical and security emergencies such as road accidents, inappropriate and/or violent physical contact, aggressive behavior such as verbal assault from your driver, etc.

Sandra Buyole, PR Manager at Bolt Africa, said, “At Bolt, your safety is our top priority. The SOS button is just one of the many features we have in place to protect our riders. We also encourage the use of the following safety measures available, such as sharing your trip details with a trusted contact and ensuring your driver matches the details provided in the app.”

Bolt recently launched the rider profile photo feature, which allows passengers to take a photo of themselves and add it to their Bolt profile. This move aims to improve safety for both riders and driver-partners. The new feature complements existing safety measures on the platform, such as the in-app safety toolkit, which allows driver-partners to share ride details with loved ones, access emergency assistance, and even trigger an audio recording of the trip if needed.
