Dual Marches to Take Place in Pretoria CBD Today
Two marches started today in the Pretoria CBD, affecting various roads in the area.
The first march, led by ActionSA, addresses concerns over the region’s crime. Participants gathered at 09:00 at the Old Putco Depot in Marabastad before marching to the Telkom Towers. The following streets are impacted:
- Schubart Street,
- Paul Kruger Street,
- Johannes Ramokhoase Street,
- Cowie Street,
- Struben Street, and
- WF Nkomo Street.
The march will disperse at 13:00, and the Tshwane metro police will be on-site to monitor it.

Motorists should consider alternative routes, such as Bosman Street, Bloed Street, Kgosi Mampuru Street, Es’kia Mphahlele Drive, and Francis Baard Street.
Simultaneously, the People Power of Movement led a second march starting from the Union Buildings at 10:00. This march sought to draw attention to alleged human rights violations in Uganda. Streets affected by this march include Leyds Street, Francis Baard Street, Pretorius Street, Eastwood Street, Pine Street, and Park Street. The march will also conclude at 13:00, with the metro police monitoring the event.
Motorists should use alternative routes, such as Madiba Street, Tom Jenkins Drive, and Wessels Street.
Both marches will attract significant public participation, and authorities are taking measures to ensure public safety and minimise disruptions to traffic flow.
