Emtee charged with assault

Emtee, the South African rapper, has been arrested after his seven-month-pregnant wife, Nicole Chinsamy, exposed his abusive ways on social media. As reported by Briefly SA News Today, in a clip shared on social media, Nicole accused Emtee of assaulting her on Valentine’s Day, which left her fearing for her life.

Nicole levelled the allegations in the rapper’s Instagram live stream and had pictures to prove it, but Emtee quickly panned the camera away from her. The suspicious behaviour convinced many that the Roll Up rapper was guilty, and people dragged him.

After Emtee faced heavy backlash for the gender-based violence claims from Nicole, he handed himself over to the police. A police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, claimed that Emtee was charged with assault and will appear in court soon.

According to City Press:

“Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed Ndevu’s arrest and subsequent court appearance. As per the case you provided, the police can confirm that the suspect handed himself to the police, and he was charged with assault and taken to court where he was granted bail. He handed himself in on Wednesday, March 8, and he was taken to the Midrand Magistrates’ Court the same day.”

Emtee had previously denied the allegations, responding to a tweet from a curious Twitter user who asked if anyone confirmed that he lays his hands on women. The rapper seemingly debunked the claims, and people shared split reactions.

This latest scandal isn’t the first time Emtee has found himself in trouble. Not long ago, he faced accusations of doing drugs, which he refuted in a heated post, just like with the gender-based violence claims his wife levelled at him in a trending clip.

The clip shared by @plug_sizzle revealed that Nicole and her friend had conspired to do something hurtful to Emtee. Nicole’s friend claimed that Emtee hit Nicole. Chaos erupted when Nicole said that the one fearing for their life in that argument was her, as she allegedly got beaten up by Emtee on Valentine’s day.

Emtee’s arrest has caused mixed reactions on social media, with some people calling for justice for Nicole, while others believe that Emtee is innocent until proven guilty. Nevertheless, this incident has sparked conversations about gender-based violence in South Africa and how it continues to affect women and children.
