SHIFT Gaming Experience

The SHIFT Gaming Experience, hosted by MTN and Hyprop, has been a thrilling event for gamers across Mzansi since April. With only three qualifying stages remaining, the competition is heating up as players vie for a spot in the finale as reported by IT-Online.

From 14 July to 26 August, gamers in Gauteng and the Western Cape will battle it out in the upcoming rounds for a chance to progress to the ultimate e-sports showdown on 27 August at Canal Walk. The schedule includes in-centre events and online qualifiers at Clearwater Mall, Capegate Mall, and Canal Walk.

The national preliminaries held at Somerset Mall, Rosebank Mall, Woodlands Shopping Complex, and The Glen Shopping Centre have already produced 16 impressive semi-finalists. The tournament has attracted thousands of gamers, supporters, and spectators, transforming the shopping centres into vibrant gaming hubs.

With a generous R35,000 prize pool for the winners, the Football Tournament featuring FIFA 23 has generated the most excitement. Additional side competitions, including F1, Fortnite, fighting games, and Minecraft, have also captivated participants, with F1 emerging as a favourite.

Riegardt Marais, Hyprop’s head of retail marketing, expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s success and highlighted the power of e-sports in bringing people together.
