Mild 2.8 magnitude earthquake recorded in Johannesburg
Johannesburg recorded an earthquake on Monday, according to the confirmation from the Council for Geoscience.
As per Jacaranda FM, the tremor was felt on the West Rand, including areas around Roodepoort, causing a brief moment of alarm among residents.
Chief scientist Michelle Grobbelaar stated that the earthquake occurred at 10:42 am. While it was a relatively minor event at 2.8 magnitude, it serves as a reminder of the region’s geological activity.

Last week Sunday, Johannesburg experienced a more powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0, centred in Boksburg on the East Rand.
Despite these seismic events, Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi assured the public that emergency services received no reports of damage to buildings or infrastructure.
