Blokland Case Transferred to Regional Court
The murder case involving the death of Nardus Blokland (55), a businessman from Rynfield, has been moved to the Groblersdal Regional Court after a brief appearance by the accused, Sean Swart, on June 7.
Chad Thomas of IRS Forensic Investigations, representing the Blokland family as a watching brief, stated that Swart has not yet entered a plea and is currently out on bail.
The proceedings for this case were relocated from the Roossenekal Periodical Court in Limpopo to the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on March 27 following an unopposed application.
Blokland tragically passed away on November 4 at the Highside Tavern in Tonteldoos, Mpumalanga, which is owned by the accused, Sean Swart, also hailing from Benoni.

On November 5, the victim, along with his wife Alison and several friends and family members of Swart, gathered at the venue to celebrate the accused’s 40th birthday.
Eyewitnesses reported an altercation after a playful wrestling match between Blokland and Swart’s brother-in-law, who had recently undergone hip replacement surgery and accidentally fell.
Swart, who observed the incident from a distance, allegedly assaulted Blokland, initially with physical blows, before retrieving a wooden bar stool from the pub and using it as a weapon.
Blokland suffered fatal injuries to his head and chest.
Swart is scheduled to appear in court again on July 17 as the legal proceedings continue.
