Revamped Toyota Hilux Now Equipped with Xtra Safety and Convenience Features

The Toyota Hilux continues to dominate the South African vehicle market, not only in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment but overall. Its success lies in its versatility, with four body configurations to choose from: single, xtra, chassis, and double-cab.

Toyota South Africa understands the importance of meeting customer needs in the LCV sector, which is why they’ve made some key changes to the Hilux lineup. These changes are designed to cater to ever-evolving customer demands.

Extras for the Xtra Cab

A noteworthy change has taken place in the Xtra Cab section of the Toyota Hilux, specifically in the Legend grade, where the inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.0 has occurred. This system provides active safety features such as the Pre-Collision System (PCS), high-speed-range Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). Users can operate TSS using the dedicated steering switches or the Multi-Information Display (MID), depending on their preference. Additionally, the exterior mirrors now possess a welcome light feature, similar to the one found on Double-cab Legend models, as part of the spec upgrade.

In a second wave of Legend grade alignment, all double-cab Legend models now have the same specification level, including 4×2 variants, which previously lacked the JBL audio. The Legend grade now offers a power-adjustable driver seat, leather interior, Toyota Safety Sense, JBL premium 9-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control, and Smart Entry System.

Customers will be pleased to know that Raised Body Auto transmission models, including the Raider and Legend, now come equipped with an Automatic Transmission Temperature warning. This nifty feature helps drivers monitor AT operation, particularly when transporting heavy loads or driving on steep terrain.

The current color options for the Toyota Hilux remain unchanged, with a selection of seven hues available for the single cab model.

However, both Xtra and Double cab models can now be specified in Platinum White, while Attitude Black is exclusively reserved for the double-cab model. Customers can also opt for Sand Beige units, which are available across all three body shapes but are produced in limited numbers. If you’re interested in this color option, it’s recommended that you check with your nearest Toyota dealer for availability.
