Rand Water’s 59-Hour Maintenance to Impact Ekurhuleni
Ekurhuleni residents have been informed that Rand Water will implement a water supply interruption to maintain the water network. The interruption will commence at 18:00 on Friday, 26 May and continue until 05:00 on Monday, 29 May 2023 as reported by the City of Ekurhuleni.
This water interruption, lasting 59 hours, will impact the water supply to several Ekurhuleni reservoirs, namely Duduza, Nigel, Springs, KwaThema, and Brakpan.
“In essence, this implies that all areas receiving water supply from these reservoirs will be without water during this period. The city will deploy mobile water tankers to alleviate the impact, but residents are strongly advised to store sufficient water for essential use throughout the duration of the interruption,” stated Zweli Dlamini, spokesperson for the city.

“Industrial consumers, including hospitals, clinics, retirement homes, and schools, are urged to fill up their internal storage tanks and exercise water conservation practices until the system has fully recovered.”
The city has made arrangements for two designated filling points in Springs and Brakpan, where industries can utilize their own tankers to access water. However, it is important to note that the estimated recovery period for the water supply system after the interruption will range from three to five days.
