Dylan Naidoo has had an eventful few days following his thrilling victory at the SA Open in Durban over the weekend, but he is already shifting his focus to the next challenge—the Joburg Open at Houghton Golf Club, starting Thursday.

Naidoo’s SA Open win, which came in a dramatic playoff at Durban Country Club during the rain-shortened event, earned him automatic playing privileges on the DP World Tour and an invitation to The Open Championship later this year.

The 27-year-old, a former Golf RSA member, has been an integral part of the growth of golf in South Africa alongside the Sunshine Tour. While the past week has been a whirlwind of emotions, Naidoo insists that he feels no added pressure heading into the Joburg Open.

Reflecting on his recent win, Naidoo said, “I feel the opposite. I’m the South African Open champion, and I can say that whether I miss the cut this week or not, it doesn’t change what I’ve achieved. It doesn’t affect my playing schedule either.” He continued, “This tournament is important to me, but it’s just one step towards the bigger events ahead. It used to be the biggest event for me, but now I’m excited to approach it with a sense of freedom.”

Naidoo also shared that his success at the SA Open was partly due to his focus on the mental side of his game. “I hired a mental performance coach recently, and their impact has been phenomenal. I’ve always had the physical tools, but now I’m gaining mental clarity every day,” he explained.

“The mental shift has been incredible to see. While I don’t expect overnight changes, the progress I’ve made has been exciting. It’s a high-performance change, and it’s helping me grow as a player.”

As Naidoo prepares for the Joburg Open, he’s eager to build on his recent success and continue his upward trajectory in the world of golf.
