The Joburg Film Festival (JFF), in collaboration with MultiChoice Group, has unveiled the theme for next year’s highly anticipated seventh edition.

The theme, “The Golden Thread – Connected Through Stories”, will guide the festival’s exploration of films that reflect shared human experiences and the timeless power of storytelling.

Scheduled for March 11-15, the festival promises a lineup of over 60 curated films, including both local and international titles, featuring a mix of fiction, documentaries, and shorts. Notably, several world premieres have already been confirmed.

JFF founder Tim Mangwedi expressed excitement about the theme, stating, “We are pleased to present ‘The Golden Thread’ as the central theme for next year’s festival. It symbolizes the unbreakable bond that storytelling forms across individuals, communities, and cultures. Through our carefully selected films, we aim to showcase how stories, like threads, weave together to create a larger tapestry of shared human experience.”

Mangwedi emphasized, “This festival is a celebration of connectivity, learning from one another, and recognizing the profound impact our stories can have globally.”

Among the films to be featured are “The Man Died,” “To a Land Unknown,” and “Under the Volcano.”
