Springbok star Handré Pollard has yet to confirm his future with Leicester Tigers, as his contract approaches its conclusion. The 30-year-old World Cup-winning flyhalf has been linked to a move to Japan, with rumors suggesting a possible reunion with fellow Springbok and teammate Cheslin Kolbe at Suntory Sungoliath. Meanwhile, Leicester Tigers are reportedly considering Wales flyhalf Sam Costelow as a potential replacement.

When asked about his next step, Pollard told BBC Radio Leicester, “I have no idea,” adding that decisions regarding his future are in the hands of his agent. “I’m just happy being at Leicester and will enjoy every minute I have here,” he said.

Pollard joined Leicester in 2022 and has made 38 appearances for the club, including four this season. His career also includes stints with the Vodacom Bulls, Japan’s Red Hurricanes, and Montpellier.

This week, Pollard is set to face several of his Springbok teammates, including Eben Etzebeth, Siya Kolisi, and Ox Nche, when Leicester takes on the Sharks in the Investec Champions Cup.

Reflecting on the mood at Leicester under director of rugby Michael Cheika, Pollard shared, “I’m really enjoying playing, and everyone is enjoying it. You can’t underestimate how important that is in a long season.”
