In a heartbreaking incident on Tuesday morning, a foetus was found abandoned in a plastic bag on the side of the road in Morningside, Durban. The discovery occurred on Montpelier Road, where paramedics from ALS Paramedics, alongside SAPS and security officials, responded to reports of the tragic find.

Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics stated, “Paramedics arrived on the scene to find SAPS and security officials in attendance. The foetus was found in a plastic packet left on the roadside.” Unfortunately, the foetus was declared deceased at the scene.

At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but the South African Police Service (SAPS) is actively investigating the case. This distressing discovery adds to a series of similar incidents in the area. Just last month, another foetus was discovered in a rubbish bin on JB Marks Roads in Glenwood. Like the Morningside case, the foetus was declared deceased upon paramedics’ arrival.

Additionally, in another case in November, the body of a newborn baby boy was discovered in Chatsworth, Durban. The baby, with the umbilical cord still attached, was found by a passerby and, sadly, declared deceased at the scene.

Authorities are continuing their investigations into these tragic incidents as they seek to uncover more details surrounding these heartbreaking discoveries.
