Disney+ has confirmed that Alien: Earth, a highly anticipated sci-fi horror film based on the iconic Alien franchise, will be released next year.

This original FX series, created by Noah Hawley, promises to deliver an intense narrative, with a star-studded cast that includes Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, and Adrian Edmondson. Additional cast members include Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.

While the exact release date remains unconfirmed, Disney+ teased that Alien: Earth will follow a mysterious space vessel that crash-lands on Earth. The storyline centers around a young woman and a diverse group of tactical soldiers who uncover a deadly discovery that pits them against the planet’s greatest threat.

As they search the wreckage for survivors, they encounter dangerous predatory life forms more terrifying than they could have imagined. With the discovery of this new threat, the crew must fight for survival, and their choices may have dire consequences for Earth’s future.

In addition to Alien: Earth, reports suggest that an animated series titled Alien: Isolation is also in the works. This prequel to the 1979 Alien film will delve into events leading up to the original franchise storyline.

The Alien series has spawned multiple films, including the latest, Alien: Romulus, and focuses on the ongoing battle between humans and the extraterrestrial creatures that threaten them. These films follow the journey of Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and, in the prequels, the exploits of the David 8 android (Michael Fassbender) and the “Engineers.”
