Fourways Mall Upgrades: R400 Million Investment to Transform Shopping and Traffic Experience
Fourways Mall Leads Retail Transformation with R400 Million Investment
Fourways Mall, the largest shopping destination in South Africa, is undergoing a massive transformation aimed at improving the shopping experience and surrounding infrastructure. As part of a broader turnaround strategy, the mall is tackling key pain points, including traffic congestion, power outages, and vandalism.
To ease congestion, six major traffic lights around the mall will connect to its backup power supply, ensuring they function smoothly during load-shedding. Additionally, the installation of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems will prevent disruptions caused by power dips.
Collaborating with the Gauteng provincial government and Johannesburg Road Agency, the mall is committed to providing a safer and smoother commuting experience.
Addressing concerns of vandalism, Fourways Mall has introduced tampering alerts for traffic lights and will work closely with local security teams to ensure swift intervention when needed.
The mall’s new management team, led by Flanagan & Gerard and the Moolman Group, has outlined ambitious plans to improve infrastructure, energy efficiency, signage, and parking facilities. These changes include:
- Enlarged parking bays.
- Improved lighting and signage for better navigation.
- Attracting vibrant new tenants.
A Vision for Excellence
With a R400 million investment, Fourways Mall aims to reclaim its position as a top-tier shopping destination. The ongoing enhancements are part of an initial six-month strategy to create a foundation for long-term success.
For shoppers and the Fourways community, these changes signal an exciting new chapter for a retail icon.
As Fourways Mall redefines its offerings and enhances its infrastructure, it’s set to become more than just a shopping centre—it’s a community hub. Whether you’re a local resident or a first-time visitor, expect a world-class experience that aligns with modern retail and lifestyle demands.
