Two Dead, Three Injured in Hammanskraal Tavern Shooting

Two individuals lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries following a shooting incident at a tavern in Hammanskraal, located north of Pretoria. The tragic event unfolded on Monday, at approximately 11:55, according to a statement from Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk.

Van Dyk disclosed that the victims were seated outdoors, beneath a tree, enjoying their refreshments when a grey Volkswagen Golf entered the premises and parked nearby. Subsequently, three male suspects, armed with a rifle and two handguns, emerged from the vehicle and commenced firing indiscriminately at the group.

Despite attempts by patrons to flee the scene, one individual was struck multiple times and tragically succumbed to their injuries on-site. The perpetrators swiftly fled the location in the same vehicle.

The injured victims were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities, with one of them later succumbing to the severity of their wounds. Van Dyk confirmed that the police have initiated investigations into two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder. The motive behind the violent attack remains uncertain at this juncture.

Authorities are actively pursuing all leads and implore members of the public who possess any pertinent information regarding the incident to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation.
