Police Apprehend Suspect for Possession of Suspected Hijacked Vehicle

The Waterberg and Capricorn District flying squad teams collaborated in the arrest of a 54-year-old individual for the possession of a suspected hijacked motor vehicle. The incident occurred along the N1 North between Kranskop and Nyl plazas on Sunday, October 13.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, officers on patrol noticed a suspicious white Toyota Fortuner. They approached the vehicle and found the driver alone inside.

Upon preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Garsfontein, Gauteng earlier this month. Furthermore, the vehicle was allegedly intended to be smuggled across the Beit Bridge border into Zimbabwe.

Ledwaba confirmed that the suspect was promptly arrested at the scene. Limpopo commissioner of police Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe commended the involved team members for the swift recovery of the stolen vehicle and subsequent arrest.
