Tshwane Police Officers Honored for Outstanding Work

The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine, recently presented certificates of recognition to police officials in acknowledgment of their dedication, professionalism, and exceptional performance in solving crimes leading to significant convictions.

The ceremony took place in the presence of district management, as well as all station and unit commanders from Tshwane District, on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk highlighted that the awards were a token of appreciation and acknowledgment for the officers’ sincere efforts and commitment to their duties.

– The sergeants were praised for their continuous efforts to safeguard and assist their communities.

Van Dyk emphasized the relentless efforts of the detectives from various units within the Tshwane District in resolving intricate cases with precision, ensuring the delivery of justice.

Constable Ernest Lehlogonolo Digoro, a member of the Temba Family, Child, and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS), was among the honorees, recognized for leading the investigation of a rape case in Rietgat.

– Due to Digoro’s diligent work, the perpetrator was identified, apprehended, and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment.

Sergeant Kgadi Cathwin Ngoetjana, stationed at Kameeldrift SAPS and seconded to the Tshwane District Detective Task Team, was acknowledged for her pivotal role in identifying and connecting a suspect involved in multiple criminal activities, including two murders, one attempted murder, five house robberies, and motor vehicle theft.

– The accused received two life sentences and an additional 95 years for crimes committed in Kameeldrift.

Sergeant Maria Morapeng Mapyane, also from the Temba FCS unit, diligently investigated two unrelated rape cases, resulting in life sentences for both perpetrators, with one deemed ineligible to possess a firearm.
