Police Searching for Missing 12-Year-Old in Joburg

Details of Disappearance

Police are currently on the lookout for 12-year-old Siyabonga Tshanduko Mutalwane, who was reported missing on October 5. According to Detective Lucky Kekana, Mutalwane was last seen at her residence in the Mshongo Informal Settlement, Atteridgeville. The pre-teen left home without informing anyone of her whereabouts and has not been seen since.

Description of Mutalwane

Mutalwane was last seen wearing a white top paired with blue jeans. Her family reported her missing on October 12 after an extensive search of her usual haunts yielded no results. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact them at 076 190 1882.

Reporting a Missing Person

According to information available on the police’s website, there is no waiting period required to report a missing person. It is advised to report the disappearance to the nearest police station immediately. When reporting a missing person, the following tips should be adhered to:

  • Produce a recent photograph of the missing individual, if possible.
  • Provide a comprehensive description of the missing person’s last known location, attire, and any additional information that may aid the investigation.
  • Complete and sign a SAPS 55(A) form, which serves to prevent hoax reports and indemnifies the police for disseminating information about the missing person.
  • Obtain the contact details of the investigating officer and supply any new information that may arise.
  • If the missing person is located or returns voluntarily, promptly inform the investigating officer.
  • Fill out a SAPS 92 form to notify the Bureau of Missing Persons that the missing person’s report can be removed from circulation.
