Minister Senzo Mchunu Signs Crime-Fighting Agreement with Joburg Law Enforcement

Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu recently signed co-operation agreements with Tshwane, Johannesburg, and Ekurhuleni law enforcement to collaborate in fighting crime together. The signing ceremony, which occurred on October 10 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, was attended by the newly elected Tshwane Mayor, Dr. Nasiphi Moya.

Collaborative Efforts Against Crime

– The agreement emphasizes the collective efforts of law enforcement agencies, private security companies, and the community in Tshwane, Johannesburg, and Ekurhuleni to combat crime.
– Tshwane Mayor Dr. Moya expressed concerns about the prevalence of criminal activities in the region, citing specific incidents like the killing of five-year-old Ditebogo Phalane in Soshanguve UU.
– Issues such as land-grabbing, illegal sales of metro services, and unauthorized utility connections were also highlighted by Dr. Moya, underscoring the need for a coordinated response.

Solidifying Commitment to Safety

– National Police Commissioner General Fani Masemola emphasized the significance of the agreement in enhancing cooperation among various levels of government and law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of residents.
