Springboks captain Siya Kolisi recently took a break from the international rugby season to visit Wynberg Boys’ High School in Cape Town. The school had shown significant support for the national team during The Rugby Championship, collaborating with MTN to perform the well-known ‘Hoya, Hoya!’ war cry earlier this year.

Following the video of the schoolboys’ performance, which gained popularity on TikTok and Instagram, Kolisi returned to Cape Town and expressed gratitude to the local supporters for their backing after the Springboks’ victory over New Zealand.

During his visit to Wynberg Boys’ High School, Kolisi commended the students, stating, “We watched your video. We love you so much, and it encourages us a lot. The fact that the way we played inspired you to do something like this really motivates us. So, honestly, anything is possible.” He further added, “And this vibe is incredible, ouens; it’s lekker, yoh! I wish I played in front of a vibe like this. Thank you, we appreciate you, and wish you all the best for the rest of the year.”

While the Springboks are currently on a brief hiatus, they are gearing up to face Scotland, England, and Wales during their upcoming November tour.

Siya Kolisi’s visit to Wynberg Boys High School and his participation in the iconic war cry demonstration was met with enthusiasm and appreciation from the students and fans.
