How to prevent unauthorised deductions from your Sassa grant

The Alberton Record recently received a complaint regarding deductions from a Sassa grant beneficiary, who reported a monthly deduction of R165 from their pension.

Instances of such deductions are not uncommon among beneficiaries.

Below is a step-by-step guide on halting unwanted deductions:

To stop unauthorized deductions, send an SMS to Q-link at 34548. Include your ID number, full name(s) and surname, the name of the FSP (the company deducting money), the policy duration, and the reason for the dispute (e.g., lack of authorization or contract with the company).

Some beneficiaries may be unaware of the entities responsible for these deductions.

If you are unsure, contact Sassa at 0800 60 10 11 or visit your nearest Sassa office to ascertain the source of the deductions.
