The upcoming Fourth Street Lines Skate Tournament will showcase the country’s top skaters competing for the coveted titles of event champions. The event is set to take place on Saturday, 12th October at the renowned Thrashers Skatepark in Pretoria, commencing at 09:00.

Thrashers Skatepark offers a diverse array of obstacles for participants to demonstrate their skills during their runs. Athletes, including invited competitors from various regions of South Africa, will partake in the Men’s and Women’s Divisions, with opportunities extended to emerging skaters to test their abilities.

Contestants will engage in qualifying rounds where judges will evaluate factors such as use of the park, style, variation, and execution of tricks to determine skaters progressing to the finals.

The skaters will vie for a portion of the R60,000.00 prize pool and special rewards from the official event sponsors. The tournament will culminate in the Best Trick competition, open to all participants, with the champion receiving a valuable drone prize.

Event organiser Ryan van der Spuy expressed, “It has been a thrilling year for Skateboarding, with numerous events nationwide and South African athletes competing at the Olympic Games. We are delighted to contribute to this narrative with the Street Lines Skate Tournament, providing a platform for the nation’s finest to compete. This contest is designed to foster the growth of skateboarding locally, offering emerging talents the chance to engage in a professionally organized event. We eagerly anticipate the unfolding of events on 12th October and the crowning of the 2024 champions.”
