Community Alert: Beware of job offer scam

Published

on

We want to bring to your attention a growing scam that is targeting job seekers in our community.

Recently, individuals have reported receiving phone calls from a person claiming to be Karryn Davidson. This individual informs them of a job offer but requires a payment for a uniform to secure the position.

Please be aware that this is a scam. The con artists are exploiting desperation for employment and are believed to be working with accomplices to make their operation seem legitimate.

They are sourcing phone numbers from the Alberton Record classifieds, specifically targeting those actively seeking general employment.

What to look out for:

• Unsolicited calls regarding job offers that require payment upfront.

• Requests for personal information or financial details.

• Pressure to act quickly to secure a supposed job.

If you receive a call:

• Do not provide any personal or financial information.

• Do not pay any money for a uniform or to secure the job.

• Hang up and report the call to local authorities or consumer protection agencies.

• Share this information with friends and family to help protect our community.

Stay vigilant and prioritize your safety. Let’s work together to keep our community informed and safe from these deceitful practices.
