The judicial proceedings against the retiring Pretoria High Court judge Tshifhiwa Maumela for culpable negligence and infringement of duty have been delayed due to his illness. Badela, the lawyer representing Maumela, has publicly announced the latter’s hospitalisation, delaying the case, according to SowetanLIVE.

Initially scheduled for Tuesday morning, the hearings were pushed back for over an hour until Maumela was confirmed. They will resume their session on May 27th.

Gauteng judge president Judge Dunstan Mlambo testified against Maumela on Monday and implicated him in his failure to deliver judgments in a timely way and defying directions on the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. The complaint stressed Maumela’s incorrectness and disaffecting the court’s instructions. Maumela was scheduled to give his shred yesterday during the week.
