Court Appearance Looms for Man Charged with Kidnapping and Hijacking

A 21-year-old man will appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court. The charges are car hijacking and kidnapping. The victim was a 49-year-old man driving a white Isuzu bakkie on Saturday.

The suspect forced the victim into the back seat at gunpoint. Later on, the suspect robbed him and left him in Soshanguve. The incident took place at Meerkat Street in Theresa Park. The matter was promptly reported at Rietgat SAPS, leading to a collaborative search effort by the Pretoria North SAPS crime prevention unit.

Following intelligence, the police traced the suspects to block A in Mabopane, arresting one suspect while the other managed to escape on foot. The arrested individual is in custody at Pretoria North SAPS as investigations into the incident continue.
