Critical Condition: Farmer Battling for Life Amidst Escalating Tshwane Farm Attacks

Tshwane farm attacks are on the rise, with six incidents reported in less than a month, highlighting a concerning surge in criminal activities around the Capital City.

In the latest attack, a 69-year-old farm owner is currently fighting for his life at Kalafong Hospital after being shot by robbers at his farmhouse. The incident was confirmed by Hercules CPF secretary Johan Cloete, who noted that although the victim’s wife and children were unharmed during the brutal attack, they are understandably in shock.

Providing details of the incident, Cloete mentioned that two suspects entered the victim’s house around 01:00, shooting the man in the face. While he is fortunately alive and receiving medical attention, this marks the sixth farm attack in less than a month. Cloete expressed the community’s determination to address and overcome the rising trend of farm attacks.

The police have not yet provided official comments on the recent incident, and the surge in farm attacks has been particularly noticeable since the start of the festive season.

Earlier occurrences include robberies in Uitzicht, Kameeldrift West, and Onderstepoort farm. In Kameeldrift West, an elderly couple was assaulted, and robbers made off with various electric appliances, including a TV and two Samsung cell phones. In Onderstepoort, a couple cleaning a pigpen was surprised by robbers who assaulted them with a firearm and took their cellphones, electric appliances, Ford Ranger, and Ford Bantam. The victims later identified two suspects as their employees, highlighting the alarming nature of these attacks.
