Revolutionary Electronic System Transforms Patient Care, Slashes Waiting Times
Mamelodi Regional Hospital will enhance its healthcare services by introducing the Health Information System (HIS) Clinical Module, a new electronic system designed to capture patient health information and reduce waiting times.
According to Didintle Mkhize from the Department of Health, the implementation of this system aligns with the Gauteng Department of Health’s initiative to replace legacy systems Medicom and PAAB. The new system brings several benefits, including facilitating integrated healthcare requirements, providing an enterprise health information system platform, and ensuring common standards and flexibility across the Gauteng Department of Health landscape.
Patients can expect accurate, up-to-date information at the point of care, secure sharing of electronic health information, and efficient access to records, reducing waiting times. The phased implementation strategy aims to mitigate disruptions, with the first phase completed and the second phase dedicated to deploying the clinical module at various healthcare facilities across Gauteng.
