The focus includes discussions on the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works, recently scrutinised by the Public Protector’s office. The engagement aims to gather insights and solutions to daily challenges faced by residents. The Deputy Minister will visit service delivery sites unannounced before the formal stakeholder meeting, as reported by dpsa.
The session follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit in response to a cholera outbreak, with ongoing short-term interventions addressing water and sanitation issues. Minister Senzo Mchunu outlined plans for improved wastewater technology at the Rooiwal plant, targeting reduced E. coli levels. Additionally, Magalies Water will install a portable water treatment plant to enhance drinking water provision in the area.
