Tragic Turn of Events – Security Guard Takes His Own Life Following Midrand Car Crash
An inquest will be opened into the circumstances surrounding a security officer’s death after the Midrand car crash. The case has left police baffled.
There have been reports of a security guard committing suicide after being involved in a car crash.
The tragic events unfolded on the evening of October 21 in Vorna Valley, Midrand, on the corner of Albertyn Street and Harry Galaun Drive.
Reports state that the guard (34) was allegedly drunk at the time of the collision.
In exclusive CCTV footage seen by Midrand Reporter, the guard is seen colliding with a white Suzuki Ciaz.
The footage depicts the driver of the Suzuki Ciaz stopping at a red robot and the security van crashing into the stationary vehicle from behind.

The car driver got out to assess and inspect the damage while chatting with the officer. A few minutes later, two security-branded vans arrived.
The security guard then returned to his van and took out a gun.
While the other motorist was talking to another official, the guard fatally shot himself.
Social crime prevention coordinator Constable Thabo Maluleke says an inquest docket will be opened.
“He knocked the other vehicle, and then when they were talking outside, he shot himself. We cannot confirm that one now [allegations of being drunk] as we are still waiting for blood results,” says Maluleke.
Midrand Reporter’s attempts to ascertain what happened proved futile as the executive director of the security company only said: “This matter is with the police and is sub-judice. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the family [of the guard] at this time; we need to give them the space they deserve in this private matter.”
