Breaking News: A Ransom and Arrests – Gqeberha Biokineticist Safe

Breaking: Gqeberha’s Hawks have confirmed the safe return of Riana Pretorius, a biokineticist who was allegedly kidnapped by three armed men outside of her place of work last week Thursday. The suspects had demanded a ransom of R2 million for Pretorius’s safe return. Fortunately, she was found unharmed in the early hours of Friday morning, as reported by Jacaranda FM.

Following her abduction, the Hawks arrested one of the suspects at Deal Party and seized a firearm.

While more details are still pending, this story highlights the issue of kidnappings in South Africa, which have increased significantly in recent months. Between July and September 2022 alone, over 4,000 cases were reported. This statistic marks a significant increase compared to last year, when the rate doubled.
