City Backs 345km Walk to Promote Stroke Awareness

Cllr Zama Sokhabas, Chairperson of the Community Services Committee, expressed her support for the 345km L’vovo Will Rise Again Walk, which stretched from Newcastle to Durban. The walk aimed to raise funds for Kwaito star Thokozani Ndlovu, also known as L’vovo Derrango, who was falsely rumoured to have passed away but was later confirmed to have suffered a minor stroke. The initiative, organised in collaboration with Ubuntu Caring Walk and the Black Child Foundation, sought not only to assist the Ndlovu family but also to utilise L’vovo’s influence to increase stroke awareness.

Five dedicated participants from Ubuntu Caring Walk, including Gcina Dlomo, Xolani Hlatshwayo, Bright Zwane, Senamile Zulu, and Scelo Ndwandwe, completed the arduous 345km fundraising walk over five days. The event culminated with L’vovo expressing his gratitude to the municipality, participants, and supporting organisations for the program’s success. He also encouraged residents to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
