Gerhard van der Merwe back in court

Gerhard van der Merwe will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today as legal proceedings continue in this high-profile case. Van der Merwe faces accusations of the tragic murder of 21-year-old Celvin Seaborne.

The court denied Van der Merwe’s bail application during a session. This unsuccessful application led to the court postponing the case to a later date.

The allegations against Van der Merwe stem from the untimely demise of Celvin Seaborne, a young man who lost his life while attempting to intervene in a street brawl outside a pub in Bergsig, situated in the Moot area. Seaborne was with his girlfriend at the time.

Seaborne’s grieving mother, Charlotte, attended the court proceedings on Monday. She later recounted the heart-wrenching experience of identifying her son’s body at the morgue on her way home from the court.

The funeral service for Celvin Seaborne will take place on Friday at 13:00 at the Koinonia Christian Centre on Van der Hoff Road in Pretoria Gardens. The case continues to attract widespread attention as justice unfolds for this tragic loss of life.
