Tragic Loss – Two Children Perish in Fleurhof Informal Settlement Fire
A devastating Fleurhof informal settlement fire claimed the lives of two children.
According to EWN, Johannesburg Emergency Services received a distress call during the early hours of Sunday morning, reporting multiple structures ablaze at extension five of the informal settlement.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a candle was the cause of the fire. This finding makes this the second incident in the area within a few weeks. A previous fire in July resulted in one death and 40 shacks destroyed.

In this incident, one adult woman believed to be the mother of the deceased children, sustained severe injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
