Reports Indicate Wagner Mercenary Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin Among Fatalities in Russian Jet Crash

Yevgeny Prigozhin is reportedly dead. The notable figure behind the Wagner private military company was on board a business plane tragically crashed in Russia, losing all ten passengers’ lives on Wednesday (23 August) during a flight from Moscow to St Petersburg.

According to Africa News, Russian emergency officials confirmed the devastating crash. The plane crashed soon after takeoff, catching fire upon impact. The aircraft had been airborne for under 30 minutes. Emergency response teams located four bodies at the crash site.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, who gained prominence as the founder of the Wagner private military company, was reportedly listed as one of the passengers on this ill-fated flight. Given his role in the controversial private military enterprise, his inclusion on the passenger list has spurred significant interest.

Prigozhin’s Wagner private military company made headlines for its involvement in various international conflicts, including fighting alongside Russia’s regular army in Ukraine.
