Prigozhin’s Wagner private military company made headlines for its involvement in various international conflicts, including fighting alongside Russia’s regular army in Ukraine. Prigozhin recently made waves by leading a brief armed rebellion against Russia’s military leadership. In response, the Kremlin announced his exile to Belarus. It indicated that his fighters would retire, join him in Belarus, or integrate into the Russian military.

It remains uncertain whether Yevgeny Prigozhin had indeed boarded the ill-fated flight or what implications this tragedy may hold for the future of his business ventures and affiliations.
