Takealot Introduces 1-Hour On-Demand Delivery Service in Cape Town
Leading e-commerce platform Takealot is making waves in the world of speedy deliveries with its latest offering, TakealotNow. This innovative on-demand delivery service is now being tested in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, offering consumers a remarkable 1-hour delivery window.
Takealot launched the pilot phase of TakealotNow in specific areas, including Durbanville, Bellville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Kuils River, and Parow. However, the platform has ambitious plans to extend the service citywide in the coming months.
Users can conveniently access TakealotNow through a dedicated section within the MR D app. Deliveries are available until 10 pm, offering a flexible solution to cater to customers’ needs even in the evening hours.
Frederik Zietsman, CEO of takealot.com, highlights the global trend of consumers demanding faster deliveries. Takealot aims to meet this demand head-on. The company has noticed sales for specific product categories surge when same-day or next-day delivery options are available.

Zietsman explains that specific product categories, such as laptops, smartphones, beauty essentials, toys, and backup power products, strongly prefer quicker deliveries—TakealotNow’s carefully curated range of products taps into this trend.
“TakealotNOW will enable us to fulfill customers’ need for products, delivered faster than ever before while offering an unbeatable range across categories not yet available in the on-demand world,” Zietsman explains.
Alex Wörz, Mr D CEO, underscores the potential of TakealotNow to expand beyond the pilot phase. “Currently being trialled across South Africa in limited suburbs, the proposition opens up the opportunity to scale across the country using our tried and tested distribution network of over 15,000 delivery partners,” he states.
For those eager to experience this lightning-fast delivery service, access to TakealotNOW is seamless through the Mr D app. Upon launching the app, users can navigate to the designated ‘Shops’ tab to locate the TakealotNOW store.
