Wattville Residents Push for Further Investigation into Bokgabo Poo’s Murder: Update
Wattville residents are demanding another investigation into the Bokgabo Poo murder case. In the wake of the acquittal of Ntokozo Zikhali, the man accused of the heinous crimes against four-year-old Bokgabo Poo, the Wattville community’s demand for justice has intensified, culminating in a petition signed by over 500 concerned members submitted to the Benoni South African Police Service (SAPS).
As tensions escalated, community leaders and residents of Wattville joined forces, gathering outside the police station to voice their concerns. The petition seeks a comprehensive reinvestigation into the murder of Bokgabo Poo, urging the establishment of credible and tangible evidence that can secure convictions for the perpetrators of these horrific acts.
Vuyo Mbeki, a prominent community leader, spoke passionately on behalf of the community, addressing law enforcement officials. “We want the person responsible for raping and killing our children to be incarcerated because we can’t live in a community that is unsafe for our children. We want to know who killed Bokgabo,” Mbeki asserted.

The petition stressed the community’s conviction that the initial police investigation fell short, casting doubts on its credibility. They urge appointing a new investigating officer capable of presenting a robust case in court to ensure justice prevails and that the family, friends, and community of Wattville receive closure. The petition also highlights the community’s desire to prevent Bokgabo’s case from becoming a cold, unresolved incident.
Colonel Reginah Rampota of Benoni SAPS accepted the petition, promising a response within 14 days, underscoring the gravity of community concerns.
This sincere call for justice took to the streets, with community members gathering outside the Benoni Magistrate’s Court, where Zikhali faced sentencing for the rape of a nine-year-old girl. Bokgabo’s mother, Tsholofelo Poo, expressed her determination to ensure her daughter’s killer faces the full weight of the law. “We are prepared to fight. This time I won’t even cry, I’ll remain strong so that I make sure that my child gets justice,” Poo stated.
The Wattville community’s pursuit of justice is unwavering, propelled by their collective determination to hold the perpetrators accountable and to address the systemic challenges that have hindered previous investigations. In this sad and passionate journey for justice, they seek solace in the commitment of law enforcement to provide answers and closure for the tragic loss of young Bokgabo Poo.
