Family of Teen Who Died By Poison Demand Justice
The family of the late Brian Ndlovu is demanding justice amid allegations that a group of bullies forced him to drink poison. Brian, a 14-year-old learner at Queens High School in Roodepoort, tragically passed away at Hillbrow Clinic after the alleged bullying incident. DFA reports that the perpetrators reportedly ambushed him in the school bathroom, forcing him to consume rat poison.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane visited the school, confirming that the police were investigating the matter. He also mentioned that they were awaiting the post-mortem report to shed light on the details of the incident.
Brian’s family has claimed that a matriculation student gave him poison in the school restrooms, suspecting bullying to be a factor. Mildred Ndlovu, Brian’s mother, tearfully recounted her son’s final moments, stating that he confided in a neighbour about the traumatic incident at school.

The Gauteng police have investigated the Grade 9 learner’s death. However, a preliminary report from the department suggests no prior reports of bullying involving Brian. The school’s security cameras also did not provide evidence of the alleged incident.
The preliminary report revealed that Brian was involved in a physical altercation with a Grade 8 learner earlier that day. The fight led to disciplinary proceedings involving both learners’ parents. Later that evening, Brian complained of stomach pain, and his family rushed him to a medical facility, where he was tragically pronounced dead.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the family seeks closure and justice for their beloved Brian, emphasizing his respectful and intelligent nature. Chiloane, expressing concern about the pervasive issue of bullying in schools, urged parents to address behavioural problems among their children actively. He highlighted launching a school safety campaign, “Operation Kgutla Molao,” to intervene in potential bullying situations and ensure disciplinary measures are taken.
